Loke

It is so windy today that apparently this storm has its own name, Loke. It is 50, with a high of 55- but windy and 100% rain, per weather.com. In all the time I lived in Minneapolis- even when it was raining- I never saw a 100% chance of rain in the forecast. They measure wind speed in meters per second, which means nothing to me. Local weather radar is almost nonexistent- or maybe I have yet to find it. Weather.com apparently lumps all of Europe on one map- none of the local doppler radar maps of the metro area like we had in the states.

Hey EP-

The conversion factor for meters per second to MPH is 2.237 or MPS x 2.237 = MPH. So basically sustained winds of 8-12 MPS isn't fun to ride in.

The state cyclocross race was Sunday and the winds were gusting to 50 mph (22.35 mps) in the morning. I bagged riding it and just went to watch. skinny ski has around 500 total photos posted which show a lot of the nasty portions of the course.

Last night it was so windy the satellite was intermittant- yet the ambulance helicopter somehow made it to pick someone up. It was a little better today- and only a mildly interesting ferry ride back to Stavanger.

As insanely windy as it was today, Lise's mother RODE TO WORK. She is literally a year-round bike commuter. She gets all decked out in Helly-Hansen's finest gear. Amazing.
